Bouncing Do Re Mi

by MHS Choir
(Ohio, USA)

This pitching exercise can be done in either solfege or in numbers; the choir I'm in learns how to say 1-8 in a new language every month for this exercise, just for fun. Just move up the scale from middle C to the next C up, singing the number for each corresponding note.

Numerical:

1 2 3 4 5 5 5 5 5 4 3 2 1 1 1 1
1 5 4 5 3 5 2 5 1 5 4 5 3 2 1
1 2 3 4 5 5 5 5 5 4 3 2 1 1 1 1
1 5 4 5 3 5 2 5 1 5 4 5 6 7 8

Solfege:

do re mi fa so so so so so fa mi re do do do do
do so fa so mi so re so do so fa so mi re do
do re mi fa so so so so so fa mi re do do do do
do so fa so mi so re so do so fa so la ti do

Concentrate on hitting each note so you don't go flat when going down the scale.

Try it! It's fun once you get the hang of it! ;-p
